About Us
You won't find an outfitter more dedicated to the success of your wingshooting experience! The collaboration of lifelong friends and wildlife biologists Dr. Frederick Moody and John Burrell, and made possible by the tireless land acquisition of Larry Moody, the Sawbriar is a meticulously developed property specifically designed with the wingshooter in mind. Our shared love for the covey rise, rooster cackle and point of a classy bird dog consistently guided our single-minded efforts to develop a world class sporting destination. From the personal service and attention to detail of our dedicated staff, to the world-class dog work of our well bred pointing dogs and retrievers, to our intensive habitat management practices, the Sawbriar is unequalled in the mid south when it comes to a world-class wingshooting experience.

Dr. Fred Moody, President and Owner, grew up just a stones throw for the Sawbriar, with a masters degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Tennessee Tech University and a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee. Fred's love for the great outdoors lead to his dream of building the mid south's premier sporting destination.

John Burrell, Partner/VP of Marketing, a certified Wildlife Biologist and award-winning outfitter, was the recipient of the prestigious Sporting Classics Magazine Award of Excellence. He has years of experience running one of the nations top sporting destinations. In addition, John is owner and President of The High Adventure Company, a premier international outfitting firm with roots as owners of world class sporting lodges on three continents and SA Adventures, a photo safari company operating in Southern and East Africa. Whether fly fishing in Patagonia, wingshooting in Argentina, big game hunting or photo safaris in Africa, John brings his experience learned outfitting all over the world to the Sawbriar.

Rhonda Wright hails from nearby Oneida, Tennessee. After attending the University of Tennessee and Tennessee Technological University, she received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management Information Systems. However, this only scratches the surface of her talents. At the Sawbriar, she acts as head chef, computer specialist, and master of ceremonies. Rhonda has a wonderful outgoing personality and a meticulous eye for detail that has proven invaluable.

Rhonda also has become experienced in dog training, especially at the puppy phase. She recently completed the Basic Handler's Course at Wildrose Kennels in Oxford, Mississippi. Her nurturing touch is the crucial foundation for advanced training. Rhonda is definitely the backbone of the Sawbriar.
